Harry Styles and Florence Pugh star in bonkers ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ Trailer
For the last two years, Actor/Director Olivia Wilde has been quietly sitting on a pop culture juggernaut waiting to happen. Combining the internet’s crushes of Harry Styles, Florence Pugh and Chris Pine, Don’t Worry Darling is an upcoming psychology-thriller inspired by the likes Inception, The Matrix, and The Truman Show. It comes out October 6, 2022 in Australia.
Alice (Pugh) and Jack (Styles) are lucky to be living in Victory, the experimental company town housing the men who work for the top-secret Victory Project and their families. Life is perfect, with every resident’s needs met by the company. All they ask in return is unquestioning commitment to the Victory cause. But when cracks in their idyllic life begin to appear, exposing flashes of something much more sinister lurking beneath the attractive façade, Alice can’t help questioning what they’re doing in Victory, and why. Just how much is Alice willing to lose to expose what’s really going on in paradise?
While the film initially saw a whirl of casting changes, it also stars Gemma Chan, Wilde herself, Kiki Layne, Nick Kroll and Kate Berlant amongst others. According to Variety Wilde says that she was inspired by the likes of psychosexual thrillers “Fatal Attraction” and “Indecent Proposal” for the film. The project also sees Wilde reunite with her “Booksmart” writer Katie Silberman.
While the verdict is still out on Harry Styles’ acting ability, it sees his first return to the screen since Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk and his recent very brief cameo at the end of Marvel’s ‘Eternals’. I’m a real sucker for a good cult drama/horror, so I can’t wait to see what Wilde has in store.
