Sem 2 ’25: blood sugar sex musik
Show Spotlight
BLOOD SUGAR SEX MUSIK focuses on a different alt-rock subgenre every single week! We discuss the roots, timelines, cultural impacts and everything in between, and of course, we play our favourite recs from the genre in question. Your hosts Cappy and Danielle have a lot of interesting discussions about gender in music, the dire music situation in Australia, our distaste for Brendon Uri(n)e…the list goes on. At the end of our show, we like to spotlight one small local band and talk about their achievements so far in the scene, and then we’ll give you a bunch of gigs to see for the week.
We asked hosts Cappy (studying Media & Communications (Media Studies/Digital Music)) and Danielle (studying Science (Physics/Neuroscience)) a couple of questions to get to know them a little better.
What song are you listening to over and over at the moment?
Cappy: Somebody That I Used To Know by Mayday Parade, Vic Fuentes.
Danielle: Parasitic Cleanse by Hail the Sun.
If you could pick a food that embodies your show, what would it be?
A BIG burrito (like zambrero). a little bit of everything wrapped up deliciously.
Which musical act no longer with us would you most want to time travel to watch live, just once?
Cappy: Pinegrove.
Danielle: uh…Title Fight…
Give us a Spotify playlist that encapsulates your show!
