Show Spotlight

Are you into EMO? Or posthardcore or metalcore or pop punk or screamo or math rock or emotional hardcore? Or whatever American football was? Or whatever La Dispute is? Emo is one of the most interesting and dynamic genres around. An offshoot of hardcore punk, Emo teleports us to basement shows in ‘80s DC; to living rooms in 2001; to kitchen bench gigs circa 2015 on your Youtube Recommended.

Appleseed FM chronicles the history and evolution of emo. We talk about the groups, splits, labels, and moments that moulded emo into what it now is…completely undefinable; completely refractive of what came before. If you’re an ‘emo trinity’ veteran looking for something deeper, a Title Fight poser or a Penfold connoisseur, or just somebody looking to nourish your emotional sensibilities – tune in.

We asked hosts Lucy (studying Law / Arts (Religion)) and Arlo (studying Arts (English & Theatre)) a couple of questions to get to know them a little better.

What song are you listening to over and over at the moment?

Lucy: The Temptation That is You by The Saddest Landscape.

Arlo: empire! empire! (i was a lonely estate).

If you could pick a food that embodies your show, what would it be?

Let’s go with an apple…

Which musical act no longer with us would you most want to time travel to watch live, just once?

Lucy: Probably At the Drive In….

Arlo: Elliott Smith.

Give us a spotify playlist that encapsulates your show!
