SURG to cease broadcasting on Friday in support of Climate Strike

The executive of the Sydney Uni Radio Group (SURG) has voted that SURG will not broadcast on Friday, September 20, to encourage students to attend the global climate strike.

The University has announced that no student can be penalised for missing class on Friday to attend the strike.

The USU has allowed staff to walk off and will be operating at a reduced capacity, while the NTEU has also voted to support the strike.

Students from over 170 classes have passed motions in support of the strike, while various university departments have all thrown their support behind the movement – including a change to the submission date for English Honours papers.
