Fresh Music Friday: ONEFOUR, Arca, Tired Lion
For this week’s Fresh Music Friday, Jacob Shteyman, Zander Czerwaniw, and Jess Negus give their unabated insights into a hectic posse cut from Onefour, an eerie track from Arca, and a ~wavy~ track from Tired Lion for those not quite ready to let go of summer yet.
“Say it Again” – ONEFOUR ft. A$AP Ferg
Jacob: They’ve got the attention of NSW Police Force and now the whole world is listening. A$AP Ferg brings his best form to another quintessential track from the best drill artists Australia has to offer.
Zander: Onefour comes down harder than the NSW Lockdown measures. A catchy “virus flow” graced by the presence of A$AP Ferg, proves Onefour are more than their media record.
Jess: If the police don’t like it, I’m interested – but I would be interested anyway without the notoriety.
“Nonbinary” – Arca
Jacob: Confronting and otherworldly, Arca defies classification both in music and in gender.
Zander: The musical equivalent of the slumberous anxiety felt when you think someone has broken into your house at 1 am. A solid experimental track.
Jess: Explosive and defiant.
“Waterbed” – Tired Lion
Jacob: Come for the grungy distorted guitars and angsty vocals, stay for the kazoos.
Zander: An early 2000s ‘Sk8er Boi’-esque banger. If you need something grungy and hardcore to replace your iso woes, this is a great option.
Jess: Big edgy teenage rebellion vibes coming off this one.
