G Flip’s ‘Lady Marmalade’ Like A Version Is A Girl Power Dream

We here at SURG FM love a Like A Version just as much as the next music fan. But I’m not sure I will ever recover from G Flip’s special International Women’s Day cover of ‘Lady Marmalade’. One, because it’s G Flip (thus, sick), but also because it features an all-star, all-female lineup.

Honestly, I am weak.

G Flip took a huge punt by covering the Patti LaBelle, Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mya, and P!nk classic, but I think it’s safe to say she smashed it, with the help of her own “soul sisters”.

She was joined in the studio by some of our fave female musos, including Jess B, Thandi Phoenix, Isabella Manfredi (The Preatures), Jess Kent, Alex The Astronaut, Rosie Fitzgerald (I Know Leopard), Clio Renner, Kate Richards, Bernice Tesara, and Carla Dobbie. What. A. Team.

And, frankly, it’s all you need to be listening to this International Women’s Day weekend. Or, frankly, any weekend. I sure know that’s what I’ll be doing.

Everything about this is glorious. G Flip smashing vocals and drums. Jess B’s rap verse. Alex on the cowbell (truly, brilliant). Thandi Phoenix’s jumpsuit (I mean 😍). I feel like I’m watching a bunch of insanely talented friends jamming in a garage. And I love it.
