Fresh Music Friday: Methyl Ethel, Becca Mancari, Lil Halima

For this week’s Fresh Music Friday, Grace Johnson, Charlie Becht, and Georgia Condon give their thoughts and feelings on a majestic single from Methyl Ethyl, a soothing track from Becca Mancari, and Lil Halima’s latest soulful banger.

“Majestic AF” – Methyl Ethel

Grace: Unrelenting electric beat with mystic melodies sung enticingly over digitalised bass.

Charlie: Lives up to the title and is indeed majestic af.

Georgia: Does what is says on the tin: the drums are hard AF, the synth is groovy AF, the vocals are haunting AF, this song is an absolute odyssey.

“Hunter” – Becca Mancari

Grace: A tie-dye soundscape with grungy electric bass and airy vocals.

Charlie: Wow, instant head banging but in a soothing way. Such a calm beat with a very catchy hypnotic chant like chorus.

Georgia: An incredibly laid back tune. Becca’s “i’m gonna hunt you down” sounds like the stoner bully in an 80s movie that is too zonked out to actually bully you, and instead throws vague threats at you from across the hallway.

“Glue” – Lil Halima

Grace: Fluid soprano lines that melt over a sugary electronic beat, punctuated by electric piano.

Charlie: I want to drive down the coast on a sunny day with this song blasting out my speaker.

Georgia: Listening to this, I immediately felt like I was on Miami Beach in roller-skates – very very good vibes!!
