Fresh Music Friday: Lime Cordiale, Becca Hatch, REBEL YELL

For this week’s Fresh Music Friday, Zander Czerwaniw, Jacob Shteyman, and Jessica Negus utter profundities on a smooth drop from Lime Cordiale, a bumpin’ track from Becca Hatch, and an industrial kicker from REBEL YELL.

“On Our Own” – Lime COrdiale

Zander: A laid back groovy summer-esque track, full of funky vibes and an exciting tease for what’s to come on their next album.

Jacob: Jangly guitars: check. Crisp production: check. Generic, non-confronting vocals: triple check! It seems as if this track was devised in a lab to achieve maximum Triple J playtime by Richard Kingsmill himself.

Jessica: Objectively enjoyable to listen to, although I’m waiting for the day that Lime Cordiale’s releases become a little less predictable in nature.

“Girl Like Me” – Becca Hatch

Zander: A chilled out pop song with a bopping bass, a great chilled out iso tune.

Jacob: Soulful and catchy R&B that wears its South-West roots on its sleeve.

Jessica: A sprinkling of jersey club keeps this RnB number from feeling too cloying.

“Anti Club Music” – Rebel Yell

Zander: A thumping, catchy track with haunting vocals, constantly building and never quite reaching the pay off.

Jacob: Intoxicating, hypnotic, thumping bass-heavy club stomper with an ironic dig at the less desirable aspects of Sydney rave culture.

Jessica: Brooding and playful at the same time.
